Job Opening: Business Development Manager

 

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate who will manage a growing segment of our business: office furniture.  In this new position, you will manage client and customer relationships, bids, quotes and tenders for federal and provincial government organizations as well as for private sector businesses. You will liaise closely with our indigenous-owned associated business partner, Elita'sualtultinej Limited.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Analyze the market, perform competitive analysis, identify opportunities, and develop strategic plans for business growth in the office furniture area.

• Actively search for public and private sector business opportunities for bids, quotes and tenders; build contacts and relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.

• Conduct research into procurement requests and opportunities to create project work plans, Gantt charts and timelines, product selection, furniture solutions and room design, working with internal staff for pricing, CAD designers, and sales support.

• Oversee the submission of questions and inquiries for government issued requests for quotes, bids and tenders.

• Oversee the creation and submission of online and written bids, quotes and tenders, ensuring compliance with stated procurement requirements.

• Monitor and report on outstanding bids, quotes and tenders.

• Use and create data analytics to explore existing relationships, analyze unsuccessful and successful bids to create new opportunities for Dicks and Company and Elita'sualtultinej Limited.

• Create written proposals including project outlines, Gantt charts, pricing, bid design, product selection, furniture solutions and room design while meeting all procurement requirements.

• Act as representative for public sector customer relationships, including government officials, architects, interior designers, contractors and other stakeholders.

• Negotiate key terms and conditions of agreements, contracts, and supply arrangements on behalf of the Company.

• Work with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with all negotiated terms and conditions. 

• Monitor and audit pricing, billing, delivery and services to ensure compliance with agreements and contracts. Correct issues. 

 

 

What you bring to the position

 

1. Proven experience, knowledge and/or post-secondary education in several of the following: interior design, CAD design, project planning and management, Canadian federal government tendering and procurement practices, customer service, business writing experience, and office furniture sales.

 

2. Abilities, traits and competencies:

§ Excellent written/oral communication skills: ability to communicate well in writing and in person.

§ Proficiency in English (oral and written).  Bilingual (French/English) language skills beneficial.

§ A strong sense of fairness, respect, integrity and accountability in all aspects of your work.

§ You find energy dealing with people and building relationships.

§ High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and online bidding applications.

§ Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meeting challenging deadlines.

§ Strong attention to detail, particularly as it relates to adhering to contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements and Company policy.

§ Ability to travel regularly within St. John’s and surrounding areas. Valid driver’s license required.  Occasional travel out-of-province will be necessary for vendor training and events.
